1st of all I just came across this thread so I didn't have a clue you could dupe stuff, and frankly I still don't understand well how they did it.

As things are now, however, since the exploit is so old (relatively speaking) a rollback is unfeasable. But, unless Anet removes ALL existing ambraces from the game blocking the duping process would incur in an even huger discrepance between rich and poor. those who have their fat stash of duped stuff can sit back and relax because now other ppl won't be able to do the same.

Detecting and removing duped stuff is also bad, as ppl who have been paid for stuff with duped stuff would remain with an empty storage chest.

In WoW all items have ID's but from what Ive heard is that isnt so true in GW.

i don't know if Anet has the manpower to mount such a witchunt and will they be able to do it within an appropriate timeframe.

Is it so hard to read the whole thread? Seriously.... Armbraces are just a tip of an iceberg. Every item could be duplicated infinite amount of times, from the day they implemented reconnects till hour ago.

I'm not sure how server-side stores items, but I'm quite sure that on client side ID is assigned to whole stack (as in stack has quantity, ID(like in type of item), price and some other stuff). Each individual item on stack does not have a unique ID on client.

personally i would clone diamonds, rubys, ectos and lockpicks since those are a nice source of money.

lockpicks never lose value and all can be sold to npcs.

the disable of reconnection hurts everyone, but i think most affected are those PvPers, HA and GvG.... sigh.............

Personally I wouldnt dupe anything. If i cant get it myself then I dont get it, but thats just me and what also pisses me off about the HoH only chest items as I dont really care to PvP except when I'm in the mood to piss of the PvPer's.

But yes lockpicks would have been the way to go for gold value only items. set value of 750gp each.

There's no way stackable items could have an id code to them. Regular items may have that, that's why we don't see any abnormal numbers of extremely rare items sold now, just armbraces/tormenteds.

You cant ban ppl with stacks of items either, if a friend gave you one of those stack you'd get a ban because of him?

As you can see, there are people not even aware of this duped stuff

Expect a fix, some ban for guys duping X00 stacks a day, that's all imo

What could have been duped so many times that its a bigger deal than Armbraces? Lets see:

Gold/Green Weapons: A good gold weapon or green weapon is still rather difficult to sell. You couldn't use the forums, since it was duped; you can't go around selling the same weapon over and over. Also, they are non-stackable; you aren't going to have room for 100's and 100's of them. Obviously quite a few of the gold-sellers and ebaying companies haven't even realized this exploit existed, or we would have seen a lot less bots in the usual places.

Ectos: Sure, theres a high chance that ectos were duped as well, and I expect that they are. But ectos have always been flooded within the market since about 4 months after Prophecies was released. I had seen images of people with storages full of ectos before Factions even hit. There has always been millions of them. Considering how widespread the dupe process wasn't spread, I doubt that even somewhere around 1/200th of ectos currently in the game are duped.

Other rare materials (diamonds, rubies, etc): The demand for these just isn't high. There would be a profit in duping them, yes, but being able to move that many diamonds would be difficult, and would have probably involved a lot of selling to the Rare Material Trader; we would have seen a drastic drop in prices long before today.

Who the hell knows?

However, if they don't find a way to remove duped stuff, they have to leave the exploit as it is, as it wouldn't be 'fair' if only some brainies got the 'bonus'.
